DISCOS is an interdisciplinary scientific project of both the biomedical sciences and the humanities. It consists of 10 European centres with outstanding expertise in the area of philosophy, neurosciences, psychiatry and psychology will cooperate in research and training on "Disorders and Coherence of the Embodied Self".

Coordinating nodes are the Department of Psychiatry, University of Heidelberg and the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy, Technical University of Munich.
